I first read about this concept in Marie Kondo’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying” and she also mentions it in her Netflix show. This is the process of imagining your ideal life. I’ve found that writing down my ideas somewhere where I will see it regularly has greatly improved my lifestyle. This can include large lifestyle choices like going to the gym three times per week, or eating a vegan diet, or where you live. Mine mostly includes little things that affect my day to day life.
Writing down my intentions for my life, visualising my “perfect” life, allows me to manifest it. Since having an ideal life list, I have actually started putting these things into practice! Additionally, I write my intentions as if I am currently living it. So rather than “I will do this” I write “I do this.” I’m not sure how much this helps but it feels good to say I already do things (even if it’s not true… yet.)
Some of things I’ve been able to implement since keeping an ideal life page, is having relaxing mornings before work, where I don’t have to rush and I have time to eat a nutritious, filling breakfast and take care of myself. A little thing I wanted to do was take the time to brew coffee, rather than drink instant, and it’s become one of the reasons I get up in the morning! I love the ritual of making coffee in the pot. Having this effective morning routine sets me up to have an awesome day and has made me generally happier.
Things I haven’t implemented yet include buying more sustainably; I want to spend my money locally, second hand where possible, and plastic-free. One of the reasons I haven’t is that I simply can’t afford it (and most second hand shops are closed due to pandemic), but it’s something I really want to do when I’m financially stable or have more income. I also haven’t been able to go to free events in town, again because of the pandemic. But, I have been trying to be more involved in online events so that I can keep a social life and spend some time on hobbies with others.
What are some of the things that would be on your ideal life page?
